Your new HSBC Expat accounts must be funded within the first 3 calendar months from when your accounts are opened. If the accounts are not funded or are partially funded, they may be subject to an Underfunding Fee or closure.
Further details on the Minimum Balance and Underfunding Fee can be found in our Tariff of Charges and Terms and Conditions.
We are required to record where you are 'tax resident' (this will usually be where you are liable to pay income taxes). Depending upon your tax residency we may need to provide the Jersey tax authority this information, along with information relating to your accounts, which may then be shared between the relevant countries’ tax authorities.
You are responsible for understanding and complying with your tax obligations in all countries in which those obligations arise. If you have any questions on how to define your tax residency status, please visit the OECD website or speak to a professional tax adviser, as HSBC Group does not provide tax advice.
If you are a US national, have US contact details or other US connections, we may require additional FATCA documentation before we can complete your application.
Your account(s) will be held by HSBC Expat, a division of HSBC Bank plc, Jersey Branch, HSBC House, Esplanade, St Helier, Jersey, JE1 1HS.
Please confirm the requirements above before proceeding with your application
